e ruth is Ellen Hoffman (and friends). Born in Maryland, settled in Washington, and forever inspired by time in New Mexico, Ellen finds music everywhere. e ruth is her first solo EP, "New Roads, Same Sky," is a coalescence of impressions collected in her first 30 years.

Key influences for this project include Laura Marling, Anna Tivel, Lhasa De Sela, and Norah Jones. Plus, her collaboration with Johnny Sangster (producer, guitar, keys) and contributions from John Convertino (drums, percussion), Keith Lowe (bass), Andy Smith (modular synthesis), Marina Albero (keys, vibes), and David Curtis Owens (guitar, life partner <3).

The result is a sonic and metaphorical journey, from the desert to the low montane, with piercing lyrics connecting the everyday to the extraordinary.
